The APT!!!

Ok...so I finally took a couple pictures of our apartment! It is a great size for us. We have two bedrooms. The only thing I'm sad about, is we have no room for a kitchen table...but that is ok.

Adventures

So David and I have been married for almost three months! Crazy. We are in Rexburg until he finishes school. Hopefully only one year. For anyone who has ever been to Rexburg you know one needs to get creative to have some fun.

For Memorial Day David and I decided to take a trip up to Mesa Falls. The drive out there is so pretty. It looks nothing like east Idaho. There are trees everywhere, it reminds me of back home and I love it. Anyway we were able to go and have a nice picnic and visit the spot where David proposed to me eight months ago.





This last Sunday was a gorgeous day. We decided we needed to get out of the house and go for a drive. Destination...no idea. After driving for almost an hour we found ourselves in Island Park. It is just past Mesa Falls and it actually sits in the worlds largest caldera which is pretty cool. I guess a huge volcano used to rest there and it collapsed in prehistoric times. Now it is covered in trees and the Snake River flows through there. We were able to hike around and explore. It was tons of fun although we did get eaten alive by mosquitoes! We also found a couple of nice campsites which we are planning to take advantage of sometime this summer. However, next time we will be prepared for all the mosquitoes!!

Best Day of My Life

April 10, 2010 hands down the best day. It was the day I married the love of my life!! All week prior to the big day it poured. I was so scared I was going to have a rainy wedding day! But we lucked out and it was dry…a little windy but I could handle that. Everything turned out perfect! Getting ready that morning was the weirdest thing. I didn’t feel any different but yet I knew things were about to change. The whole way to the temple I just remember thinking about how I never thought this day would come and now it had and I couldn’t believe it. Then seeing David at the temple gave me butterflies. He looked amazing.

The whole day was amazing, especially the reception. It was beautiful. My mom and sister Jayme basically planned the whole thing. I could not have done it without them!! I remember walking in and being surprised. I could not have pictured anything more perfect. After the reception David and I left to a little bed and breakfast over by Sunset High School. The decorating crew for the car definitely succeeded in making it completely ridiculous. I had a hard time fitting in the car with my dress 

The next day we had a big family dinner and opened all our gifts. We have some amazing friends and received so many great things!! We are so thankful for all we got. We left that evening for California to leave on our cruise. We went on a four day cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada. It was fun except for the fact that I got really sick. Not sea sick but sore throat with white spots, no energy, boring sick. Go figure. But we managed to still have a great time! We met some really funny people and we even managed to go snorkeling in Catalina. I’m ready to go on another cruise.

After the honeymoon we had a beautiful open house in David’s backyard in San Diego. His family worked so hard to get everything ready and it was absolutely gorgeous!! The weather was also perfect. It was really fun to get back in my dress for a few hours. Unfortunately our time in San Diego was extremely short because the next morning we left to Rexburg.

I’m so happy I was able to have my fairy tale wedding. Thanks to everyone who helped because it would not have been this great without you.

Thanksgiving!

So this year for Thanksgiving I went with David to San Diego. It was so fun! We were lucky and got to fly which was nice. It was great to take a week away from school and just relax with David and his family! It did go by way too fast though and it was extremely hard to leave. The weather was amazing. I wore a T-shirt the whole time and I only needed a light jacket in the evening. I loved the sun being out and warm, unlike Rexburg.

We arrived in San Diego Saturday night and on Sunday I went with David to his ward and met some of his friends. After that we went up on this hill that overlooks the city and you could even see the ocean. It was gorgeous.

Monday we went and rode a train thing. I don’t really know how to describe it. Basically this guy had re-created a little train with some old rail and built a huge track around his backyard. It was fun; the old man who had built it was hilarious. He loves his trains and he knows a lot about them. That evening we had a kid’s night. We all went to dinner at this place called Dick’s where they are purposefully mean to you. It was really funny. I think the waiter told me that I’m high maintenance and stuff like that. It made me laugh. Of course he didn’t once pick on David, which was unfortunate. After that we went to this huge arcade and played a ton of games. There was this one trivia game that we could all play together and that one by far was my favorite. David and I used our tickets to get this picnic backpack complete with speakers and plates! Awesome.



Tuesday night we had a girl’s night so David was not invited. Haha. We went to a ceramics place and I painted a snowman. It was a lot of fun. I had never done something like and I’ve decided that is something I want to keep doing because it was really relaxing. We also ate dinner at Panera Bread and got hot chocolate. It was fun to hang out with David’s mom and sisters and hear some more stories about him!

Wednesday we went to the Wild Animal Park which is an addition on the San Diego Zoo. It was really fun. We got to ride in these train/car things around and see all the animals. I love that stuff. By then end of the day we were worn out! Then Thursday was Thanksgiving and the power went out for a couple of hours in the morning but luckily it came back on and we had a great dinner!! That night we all went and saw the movie Blindside, amazing! I love that movie.





Ok so I might have some of those days mixed up? All well. I know Friday night we went and took family pictures. David and I on one of those days went to In N’ Out Burger, so good!! We also went to the beach, beautiful! Basically it was an amazing trip!! It was a much needed break from school for both of us. It was hard to come back to cold Rexburg and snow and school and homework. Only 1 ½ weeks left and then we’re done with the semester and off to Minnesota to spend Christmas with my family!

YES!

Ok so A LOT has happened since my last post! I've just been so dang busy with David, school and my calling that I can't seem to find a free minute.

Alrighty well on Sunday October 11th it all went down. David and I are in different wards and his meets in the morning and mine doesn't meet until the late afternoon. So he usually makes me Sunday dinners, which is really nice! On this particular Sunday he picked me up after church and he had made a chicken parmigian dish. It was so good! After that he took me out to Mesa Falls, we love that place and have gone there a couple times this semester. When we pulled into the parking area so did four other cars and David began to complain about that but I didn't really understand why it was that big of a deal? We walked down the trails to the waterfall where we were able to claim a bench. We just sat on the bench and talked and took a few pictures by the falls. By this time it was starting to get really cold so we decided to drink some of the hot chocolate David had made for us (now all the people were finally leaving so it was just us). We were just chillin and drinking hot chocolate when David turned to me and told me how much he loves me and how he wants to spend forever with me. Then he got down on one knee. You have to understand that David has “fake proposed” to me before and teased me about when he was going to propose so I thought he was doing that again and I was about to get mad. I told him to shut up and stop it because I didn’t think he was serious. And then he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him! I said yes of course and ripped off the glove I was wearing so he could put the ring on my finger!

We stayed a bit long and took some more pictures because we were both so excited and then we left. On the way home David had made a mix of our favorite “cute” songs so we listened to that. Then we started the process of calling our family and friends. It was so fun to tell everyone! Once we got back to Rexburg we went to David’s apartment and had some sparkling cider to celebrate with some of his roommates. It was the best day! The thought had entered my mind that he could propose there and it would be a really cute spot to do it but I really didn’t think he would. I was pretty sure that he was going to wait until we were in San Diego for Thanksgiving.

Life has been great; I love being engaged and having a fiancé! That took a little while to get used to and sometimes we still call each other boyfriend or girlfriend but for the most part we have it down. Planning the wedding with school has been interesting. Luckily my family is very willing to help out and we aren’t getting married until April 10th so that gives us plenty of time to plan!

This past weekend David and I took a day trip to Utah so I could get my wedding dress fitted. We also found a really cute engagement picture outfit for me so I’m pretty excited. We are having those taken the first weekend in November.

Here We Go...

Back to Rexburg. Check. Boyfriend. Check. First week of my my last semester in college. Check.

This has been a pretty crazy week for me...there is much to blog about :) So the time to make the trek back to Rexburg inevitably came. Since I had mono this summer my parents didn't want me to drive back alone (the doctor said I'm no longer contagious!!) so my dad drove me to Boise. It was nice to have him with me for that part of my trip. Once we got to Boise we ate lunch at the Cracker Barrel and then he flew back to Portland and I continued on to Rexburg.

Once I got into Rexburg and moved all my stuff in David came over. I hadn't seen him in three weeks so I was really excited! He took me grocery shopping...so romantic I know :) After that we went to Idaho Falls for dinner at Olive Garden. Yum! Then we were going to finger paint pictures for each other but it was too dark outside so we found a dock on the river where we sat and talked. It was then that we bacame "official."

Since being up here David and I have spent most all our time together. Things are going great between us and I'm excited for the rest of the semester. Now for how we met...

Last semester I joined a lacrosse team, the same team David happened to be on. I always thought he was cute and funny but he didn't pay as much attention to me like some of the other guys did so we never really talked and thats how it was for the whole season. One time at practice I got hit in the eye with a lacrosse ball which hurt really bad! And so we were all sitting there (me in tears) and David said and I quote, "Welcome to lacrosse Bree." I was livid. I didn't like him for the rest of the week. But then I decided to let it go cause he was really funny. David swears he didn't say this, but he did :)

Our team eventually made it to the championships and we won! That day David borrowed my screwdriver to tighten his helmet and forgot to give it back. So the next day (this is now two weeks before the semester is over) I added him as a friend on facebook with a message telling him he forgot to give me my screwdriver back. Later that day I sign on and he starts talking to me. He was so funny! Anyway he ended up asking me out for the Tuesday and I said yes.

Our first date was to the Harry Potter midnight showing. It was a double date with his roommate Kyle and his girlfiend Sharon. We went to dinner at 5 Guys and then we had like three hours to kill in the movie theater. This had potential to be the worst first date ever since we really didn't even know each other very well and we had so much time before the movie started. It was the exact opposite. It was the best first date I've ever been on. We got along so well and talked the whole time.

Wednesday night David called me and asked me out for a second date on Friday, which I obviously said yes to. I was so happy that he had called. Most guys up here are into just hanging out all the time. But David actually called in advance to set up a date. Anyway David and I have some mutual friends on the lax team who were having a game night on Thursday so I invited him to go with me and we hung out that night as well.

Friday came and it was another double date with our friend Andy who was our lax coach. We went to dinner and then miniture golfing in the gardens on campus. It was really fun and thats when we had our first kiss. After golfing we rented the Rocker and watched it at his apartment.

We saw eachother everyday after this until the end of the semester which was only another week. He even met my sister Jayme and her family that Sunday. At this point I was really starting to like this guy which I think scared me a little at first. On Monday we kind of had a "DTR" (defining the relationship) and I told him I didn't want to have a long distance relationship. Even though we pretty much did.

So David left to go back to San Diego on Friday and we talked on the phone everyday over the 6 week break except like twice. So now we are back in the same place and things are going really well.

School has started and it is my last semester before I go student teaching in Las Vegas. Its pretty crazy that my college career is just about over. It has gone by so fast! Pretty soon I'll be off on a new adventure.

Road Trip

So last Wednesday afternoon my family and I left on a road trip. We were headed down to California and then over to Utah to check out some colleges for my little sister Keara and her friend Tracey.

The first night we made it down to Redding, California. We stayed with some relatives that I had never met before. Kee, Tracey and I had to stay in a trailer outside the house. We were on a mountain and in the forest and all night we were terrified that a bear was going to eat us :)

On Thursday we made the drive LA. I am not a fan of that city. There are millions of people and it is super smoggy and trashy. Well at least the part we went to. Thursday we spent all night looking for USC and it turned out the college was like five minutes away from where we were staying, kind of funny. So on Friday we went on a three hour tour of USC. The campus itself was really pretty and it seems like a really great school; I know Keara would looooooooooooooove to go there.

It was actually a really weird experience going on this college tour with Keara and her friend and all the other prospective students who were there. It really made me realize that I'm getting older and am just about done with my own college experience. It goes by so fast and I wouldn't trade any of it; it really has been amazing!! I just can't believe my little sister is going into college and I'm pretty much done...what a scary thought!

After that we headed down to San Diego. This part of the trip was by far the favorite for everyone. Keara and Tracey fell in love with San Diego and they have their hearts set of living there someday. I was really excited to be there because the guy I'm dating, David, lives there. So here's the story of what I did in San Diego...

David picked me up when I got there and he took me to this science museum. It was actually really fun! They had all these different exhibits that we played with. Basicially it was us and millions of little kids. Way fun. After that we watched an Imax movie on Mt. Everest...really cool. I love those! The museum was at this place called Balboa Park which I guess is bigger than Central Park. Its huge! So we walked around there for awhile just looking at everything. We worked up quite the appetite doing that so David took me for my first In N' Out experience. It was amazing! That is by far the best burger place ever! By this time it was dark outside so we went to the San Diego temple. It was beautiful with all the lights!! It seriously looks like a castle. It was amazing. After that he took me to this hill that overlooked San Diego and we were able to watch the Sea World fireworks which was really cool. To end the night he took me to Heaven Scent desserts...which was aaaaamazing! We shared this really good fruit tart thing and some chocolate thing. Haha it was delicious.

Saturday was the big day. David came over around 9 that morning and met the fam. It went really well excecpt when he came over Keara and Tracey decided to be flying squirrels jumping from the different beds in the hotel room. So David got to see how weird my sister can be :) Then we all headed down to Mission Beach. When we got there we noticed that there were dolphins swimming in the water! The whole day we swam the dolphins kept coming back and they were so close to us! It was really cool to swim with them! We hung out at the beach for most of the day and boogie boarded. Man the water was absolutely amazing! You could see the bottom and it was warm! So different from the Oregon coast! A couple of David's friends met up with us at the beach so it was fun to meet and hang out with them as well.

David and I left my family at the beach around 3 so I could get ready and head to his house to meet his family. I ate dinner with them and then we all went to the play Wicked. I had never seen it before and I loved it!! It was really cool meeting David's family. We all got along really well and during dinner I got to hear tons of stories about David...that was the best. His family was really nice and I had a great time with them. At the end I was talking with his mom and sisters and they told me if things don't work out between us to come back anyways because they like me so much. David didn't hear that part he only saw me laugh and I told him they had told me a secret and it drove him crazy all night because he didn't know what we were talking about. It was pretty funny.

After the play David took me to La Jolla Cove. We just walked on the beach and sat on the rocks and talked. It was beautiful. I am definitely a fan of San Diego. It was great trip! That night we had to say goodbye because my family was leaving to Utah the next morning. I'm so happy I was able to go with my family and that by this time my mono and tonsillitis were pretty much gone. So I was able to really have a good time. I was pretty plugged up but that wasn't too big of a deal.

The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. We made it Utah and stayed with some more relatives that I had never met which turned out to be really fun because I was able to hear lots of stories about my Dad that were pretty entertaining. I was also able to see some of my friends who I went to Ukraine with and have lunch with them. All in all it was a really fun trip!!
